Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2026

Your privacy is important to us. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Encrypted

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest

Transparent

We're clear about what we collect and why

Your Data

You own your data, always

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and restaurant business details.

Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you use our service, including pages viewed, features used, and actions taken.

Staff App and Device Data: The Platovo Staff KDS app sends a device identifier, Firebase push token, app version, notification status, and staff actions so it can receive orders, keep sessions secure, and diagnose delivery problems.

Camera: During tablet setup, staff can use the camera to scan a one-use pairing QR code. Camera frames are processed on the device only to read the code; Platovo does not save or upload them.

Payment Information: Payment details are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card information.

Customer Data: Information about your customers (names, contact details, orders) is collected to provide the ordering service.

Restaurant Previews: Before a restaurant signs up, we may build a private preview of its ordering page from information the business has published itself, such as its Google Business listing, its menu, logo and the contact details on its own website (or, where it lists none, a business email directory), and we may send the business one email about it with a working unsubscribe link. A preview is visible only to people with its private link, cannot take orders, and is not published until the restaurant claims it. The restaurant can remove it, or stop our emails, at any time from the link in the email or the preview page, and we will not contact it again.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • ✓ To provide and maintain our service
  • ✓ To process orders and payments
  • ✓ To send important service updates
  • ✓ To improve our platform and features
  • ✓ To provide customer support
  • ✗ We never sell your data to third parties

3. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • • All data transmitted over HTTPS encryption
  • • Passwords are hashed and salted
  • • Regular security audits and updates
  • • Secure cloud infrastructure
  • • Access controls and monitoring

Platovo staff may sign in to a restaurant's account to provide support — for example to build a menu when the owner has asked us to. Every such session is recorded, the account owner is emailed at the time, and any change we make is logged under our name in their Activity log. Staff cannot reach account passwords, billing details or connected bank accounts. See Section 4 of our Terms of Service.

4. Data Sharing

Service Providers: We share data with trusted third parties who help us operate our service:

  • • Stripe (payment processing)
  • • Resend (email delivery)
  • • Fly.io and related cloud infrastructure (application and database hosting)
  • • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (staff order notifications)
  • • Sentry, when enabled (error diagnostics and performance monitoring)

We never:

  • ✗ Sell your data to advertisers
  • ✗ Share customer data with competitors
  • ✗ Use your data for purposes you didn't consent to

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • ✓ Access your personal data
  • ✓ Correct inaccurate data
  • ✓ Request data deletion
  • ✓ Export your data
  • ✓ Opt out of marketing communications

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@platovo.com.

For step-by-step account deletion instructions and details about what we delete or retain, visit our account deletion page.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you close your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain it.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to:

  • • Keep you logged in
  • • Remember your preferences
  • • Analyze site performance

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features may not work properly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or through our service.
