How to move customers from delivery apps to your own ordering page
Keep the delivery apps for new customers, and move the people who already know you, your regulars, callers and Google visitors, to your own ordering page with a clear reason to switch: the same food, no app markup, and an offer on their first direct order. Every order that moves saves the 20–30% commission the app would have taken.

What the apps charge
- Uber Eats: Lite 20%, Plus 25%, Premium 30% on a delivery order in Canada (pricing, checked September 2026).
- DoorDash: Basic 20%, Plus 25%, Premier 29% on a delivery order in Canada (pricing, checked September 2026).
On C$10,000 of app orders a month at 25%, that is C$2,500. See the full comparison.
Decide who to move
Not every app customer is yours to move. Someone who scrolled an app and picked you from a list would not have found you otherwise; the commission paid for that. The customers to move are the ones who would have ordered from you anyway:
- Regulars who order every week.
- People who phone in their order.
- Anyone who searched your name on Google.
- Visitors to your website and social profiles.
The plan
Fix your own links first
Your website, Google Business Profile, Instagram and Facebook should all point to your ordering page. See the Google guide.
Put a card in every app bag
A small card with your QR code and one reason to order direct next time: "10% off your first order at our own site." Platovo makes these flyers from your menu.
Give phone callers the link
Read it out, or send it by text after the call. Callers are the easiest to move: they already chose you.
Keep prices fair
If your app prices are marked up to cover commission, say so: "Order direct and pay our menu prices."
Bring them back
Once a customer has ordered direct, email them offers and news. Platovo can send win-back offers to customers who have not ordered in a while.
Measure it
Compare direct orders with app orders each month. Moving even a fifth of app orders saves real money.
What not to do
- Do not drop the apps overnight. You lose the new customers they bring and the drivers.
- Do not break the app's rules. Check your agreement before putting marketing in app orders; some restrict it.
- Do not make direct ordering harder. If your own page is slower or more confusing than the app, people go back.
Questions restaurants ask
Can I charge less on my own site than on delivery apps?
Check your agreement with each app; terms differ by app and change over time. Many restaurants keep the same menu prices everywhere and offer a first-order discount for ordering direct.
How much can I save?
It depends on volume. At 25% commission, C$10,000 of orders costs C$2,500 on an app; on Platovo the same orders cost about C$445 including Stripe's fees. Try the [calculator](/pricing).
